Neufeld, Zach

Dr. Zach Neufeld is a composer of a diverse range of work, including choral, orchestral, chamber, and electronic music. He is equally active as a pianist, organist, teacher, and conductor, and is in demand as a collaborative pianist for singers.

Dr. Neufeld is Cathedral Organist at St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral in downtown Los Angeles, where he provides music for parish and diocesan services, and accompanies the Cathedral Choir under the direction of Dr. Christopher Gravis. He is on the faculty of the Windward School, where he teaches music theory and accompanies the choirs. Previous teaching appointments have included UCLA, Moreno Valley College, and Mount St. Mary’s University.

Zach earned a Ph.D and M.A. in Music Composition from UCLA, and a B.M. from the University of Redlands. His teachers of composition have included David Lefkowitz, Ian Krouse, Richard Danielpour, Paul Chihara, and Roger Bourland. He studied organ and conducting with Jeffrey H. Rickard and Jean-Sebastien Vallee.
