Description
A Hymn for Lent
Alec Wyton
Although an entirely original composition, this unison setting of the Latin hymn, “Audi Benigne Conditor”, attributed to Gregory the Great, retains the ancient character of the traditional plainsong melody. The accompaniment, conceived for two trumpets and two trombones, is equally effective for organ in its quasi-medieval simplicity.
