A large-scale suite of hymn settings (including Liebster Jesu, Aurelia and Kings Lynn) in varied styles all exploiting the many colors of the organ.
William Greene has a keen sense of both historical and contemporary styles. This collection consists of two manuals-only Fugues, two Toccatas, a Trumpet Tune, an Aria, a Berceuse, and a Tryptich on Liebster Jesu that combines historical and contemporary elements. The toccata on King’s Lynn is particularly strong. A Berceuse on Blest Be the Tie that Binds makes a lovely prelude, even if that hymn is not in our hymnal. These pieces are finely wrought and worth a look.
