Description
ÒWhile spring texts are usually related to the themes of Easter and new life, few hymns have been written about winter. The poem by the brother of the more famous Henry Wadsworth Longfellow captured for me the feel of life with his pictures and colors and the feel of the season. I felt challenged to break up the poetic lines in smaller musical units balanced with longer lines. God is the giver of all seasons, and I think it is appropriate to sing of winter as a gift of God.Ó
– Austin C. Lovelace, composer
