For God alone my Soul in Silence Waits

Composed for SATB a cappella choir, the rise and fall of the melodic lines heighten the sense of mystery and waiting inherent in the text. Boles also places the altos, tenors, and basses primarily in lower registers creating musical gravity as the text speaks of God’s steadfast love. There are two brief tenor solo passages which contrast with the surrounding tutti sections. This musical prayer will serve especially well as an anthem for meditation.
