This is another, slightly less-familiar hymn, though with new music. I quite like this text, familiar as (though not in all details identical to) Hymn 706 in The Hymnal 1982. Stearns has crafted a nicely shaped melody for it, wrought as a series of arch-shapes. We hear it first from the upper voices, then from the men, with SA commentary, and then in a more conventional SATB arrangement. The piece is relatively quiet throughout (the marked dynamics peak at mf, and mostly lie more in the pp to mp spectrum.) Communion, anyone?
