Magnificat Anima Mea-SATB and Organ
Gerald Near
This large scale eight-movement “Magnificat” was originally composed for chorus, organ and string orchestra, and is published here for choir and organ. At times, the piece is quiet and reflective, with cluster chords in the organ supporting the string-like polyphonic entrances of the choir. At other times it is quite exuberant, as in Movement IV, “Fecit Potentiam”, which concludes with a fortisssimo homophonic statement of its opening text.*Full score and orchestral parts available on a rental basis.
