Palestrina’s “Missa Descendit Angelus Domini” is based on a motet of the same name by Hilaire Penet, a motet that was well-known, widely circulated, and used as a model by Costanzo Porta as well as by Palestrina. Editor Dr. Mary Berry has made this transcription from a set of the original part books in the Vatican library with some practical changes to aid modern day performance.
