Powell sets three stanzas of Samuel Crossman’s much-loved and widely applicable text to new music. The first stanza is for unison voices; the second is for mixed voices, ranging from unison to four parts (singing different music than in stanza 1); and the third, again for unison voices, reprises the melody of stanza 1, under an added descant.
