Description
Sing We Merrily Unto God
Adrian Batten
This familiar work from the late Renaissance is here given a new, practical edition by noted Gregorian chant specialist and conductor William Tortolano. The key (A major) is sensitively chosen for the singer’s range and brightness of spirit. Torotlano has also provided a dynamic scheme that is subtle and expressive of the text. Finally, he has provided phrasing marks to set off certain parts of the text. This piece would be a wonderful introduction to late Renaissance English choral music and provides a fine anthem for anytime in the church year.
