Description
A lyrical text for Pentecost by George Croly is given here in a rich, yet fresh musical setting. The work begins with women alone in four-part divisi. The men join later with the theme and the music is further developed in ever richer harmony and a gradual crescendo to the words, “my heart an altar and Thy love the flame.” The work concludes quietly with a reminiscence of the original theme. This is a challenging yet satisfying work for the more accomplished choir who are experienced in ‘a cappella’ work.
