This sophisticated carol is a jewel of a setting. Over a rich accompaniment of strings set at 16′ and 4′ pitches, the sinuous melodic lines weave a spell to the listener. While a developed ear is needed to be sensitive to the many accidentals, the vocal range is moderate, allowing concentration on the text.
