Travis Evans is the Music Associate/Assistant Organist at First Presbyterian Church in Kirkwood, (St. Louis) Missouri where he helps lead a growing music ministry. He directs the churches three handbell choirs, and assists with the adult and children vocal choirs.
Travis is an Adjunct Faculty member at St. Charles Community College where he teaches courses in music, organ and piano. He is also on the faculty at the University of Missouri – St. Louis as a Piano Specialist in the music department, and an Adjunct Faculty member at Lindenwood University where he teaches Music Theory. In addition to his academic work, he has also served as a church musician. He has served as the organist/accompanist at St. John UCC in St. Charles and was Director of Music for eighteen years for Lutheran Churches. Travis spent two seasons as the Artistic Director for the Choral Art Singers in St. Charles County.
Travis studied choral conducting with Dr. James Henry, conductor of the Ambassadors of Harmony and head of the choral department at the University of Missouri – St. Louis, instrumental conducting with Dr. Paul Davis at Webster University, and organ with Dr. Charles Ore, the late Dr. Theodore Beck, and Dr. Barbara Harbach. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance from the University of Missouri – St. Louis, and a Masters of Music in Organ Performance from Webster University in St. Louis where he studied with William Partridge, Canon Precentor at Christ Church Cathedral in St. Louis, where he has also volunteered as the assistant choirmaster for many of their Evensong services.
