Those who are familiar with Bruce Neswick’s anthems will know his uncommon attention to text and musical setting. “A Chorister’s Prayer” follows in that tradition. This prayer could be sung by either an adult or youth choir, and is set in the middle of the vocal range. The melody beings in E major and the central section modulates into a bright C major, while the final section returns to the original key. This could be used as an anthem, prayer or introit for any Sunday of the church year.
