Three writings of Lancelot Andrewes, St. Augustine and John Donne form the basis of this set of anthems, all a cappella. Russell uses a variety of techniques to underscore the texts: antiphonal writing, homophony, imitation and modality. This could be performed complete in a concert setting or as separate anthems for the worship service.
