Description
Bread of the World is a setting of a folksong from Thailand in the spirit of early American hymnody. The melody is given first to the basses alone, then to the sopranos with harmony. Throughout the piece, the most homophonic writing has a modal flavor to it, quite reminiscent of early 19th century hymnody. The final verse edns quietly with the essence of the text: “Bread of the world, wine of the soul”
