Canticle of Peace is a welcome work for concert or worship, exploiting the many sound possibilities of both handbells and chimes. The opening melody is presented simply at first, and is developed and expanded as the piece unfolds. This melody is heard in the chimes at the conclusion of the work where it is accompanied by handbells in rich counterpoint. “Canticle of Peace” has a majesty and grandeur that makes it appropriate for the worship service as well as for concerts.
