This brief a cappella panegyric would make an excellent introit for a variety of services and occasions. The diatonic texture draws energy from large sweeping gestures and a few well-placed melismas. The opening unison phrase is recapitulated at the end in a modified form, with the repeat beginning a step lower yet following the same contour. otherwise, the internal logic carries the pice along a convincing, albeit short, musical journey.
