Give Me a Watchful Heart
Richard Busch has created a richly meditative setting for this famous prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas. The voice parts are written in the middle range thus making it accessible to choirs of limited ability. Mr. Busch demonstrates a sensitivity to long, lyrical phrases and this is particularly shown in the beautifully drawn-out final “Amen”.Since the piece is in three-part form, the return of the opening music will also facilitate the learning process. The simplicity of structure and harmony along with the graceful vocal writing will make this a piece of immediate appeal for choirs and directors alike.
