Description
Harvest Song uses an American folk hymn to express the feelings of gratefulness that Americans celebrate at the Thanksgiving season. Each of the three verses is treated differently. The choir parts are either in unison, two or four parts, and there is a lovely descant in the final verse. Dr. Lovelace retains the character of the folk tune in the effective organ accompaniment, and the overall effect of the piece is one of simplicity. “Harvest Song” could be used not onliy at Thanksgiving, but also as a general praise anthem throughout the year.
