Dedicated to the memory of composer and friend Peter Pindar Stearns, Russell has set this text from a prayer for burial to create an anthem perfect for Lent or any time of penitent prayer. Written for two voices, thus allowing it to be sung by choirs of smaller size, one can hear a shift of emotion in the music at the text recognizing God as holy and merciful.
