Description
Watchman Tell us of the Night
Bruce Saylor
The beauty of this hymn arrangement lies in its simplicity. It can be sung in various ways, but perhaps it is most effective as a choral work. The organ is not merely an accompaniment, but another “voice” that supports the text with smoothly changing harmonies. After two verses of subtle variation, the third verse begins quietly and reaches a musical climax at the words, “Lo! the Son of God is come!” This hymn-setting could be used as a hymn accompaniment or as a solo.
