Based on an evocative James Agee poem, this is a lovely carol for advanced choirs. Diorio creates an atmosphere of mystery with close harmony and weaves a flowing melody throughout. The predominance of flat keys also creates a tonal richness that is appealing. This would be a fine and thoughtful anthem for the Christmas season.
