Drop, Drop, Slow Tears is another example of Peter Pindar Stearns’ gift for lyricism. Mr. Stearns sets this work in the minor mode which creates a penitential atmosphere. Each phrase of the text is set to the same plaintive melody, while the final phrase is re-harmonized in a subtle way. This lovely anthem would be appropriate as a choral prayer or introit during Lent.
