Description
• Beautiful carol in the English tradition
• begins lullaby-like in close harmony
• expands in range with vocal solos and intensity of harmony
• ends with quiet alleluias, as if at the mangerFrom the Composer:
Faced with needing a filler piece for the Choir of Men and Boys portion of the Joy of Christmas concert at the Washington Cathedral, Jesus came, adored by angels was literally composed on the run. Having done some work in Princeton, New Jersey, the passenger seat in a car careening south on I-95 from Princeton back to Washington, DC provided the perfect setting for this pieces creation. A talkative travelling companion coupled with the frenetic speeds and congestion of the northeast corridor seemed to be the perfect combination of elements to inspire a soft Christmas anthem to be sung in one of the worlds most beautiful buildings.
