David Ashley White has set this contemplative text in homage to the great Italian Baroque composer Antonio Lotti. While making reference to Lotti’s setting of the same text, Dr. White skillfully blends the elegant polyphony and vocal lines of the Baroque with the more complex harmony of the 20th century. Set mostly in the middle range, the vocal writing gives the words the utmost clarity.
