Craig Phillips is steadily gaining recognition as one of our most gifted composers of sacred music. His latest contribution is a new set of Preces and Responses that includes an organ part that further illuminates the familiar text. Particularly beautiful is his treatment of the Lord’s Prayer accompanied by the strings of the organ. The vocal writing is a mixture of unison and four-part textures all set within a moderate range. This set of Preces will be a fine addition to the literature for Evensong.
